NC Latino COVID-19 Task Force

The rate of COVID-19 vaccines is disproportionately low among Hispanics and Latinos across the State of North Carolina. In collaboration with local health departments, community partners, and the NCDHHS, the need for a substantial and comprehensive coordinated approach is necessary across North Carolina. These meetings are scheduled to effectively coordinate our task force and will continue for months to come. The purpose and goals for the task force are the following:

● Purpose: Prevent further spread of the COVID-19 virus and increase the rate of vaccination in the Latino community across North Carolina.

● Goals:

○ To intensively collaborate with NCDHHS, health departments, community partners, and community members to educate the community on receiving the vaccine and preventing the spread of COVID-19 as well as what to do if they test positive.

○ To be specific in our participation in the community and the task force.

○ To engage in our role as leaders and have consistency in our work.

Internship Program

Our internship program first started in 2004, with one intern from East Carolina University. Ever since, AMEXCAN has had an average of 5-7 interns each semester. Interns bring specialized expertise that can be applied through program development, relationship building, and real world experience. They grow professionally through various opportunities and develop relationships with our community. If you are interested, please contact us via email, internship@amexcannc.org
